Saving
How fixed files are saved, named, and protected from partial writes.
Per-file and batch save
Save… on a Repair ready row saves that one file.
Save Fixed Files… saves every ready result. It is disabled when nothing is ready.
Both ask you to choose a destination folder. Choosing a destination is deliberate; no folder permission is needed while files are being checked.
Naming
The default name is <original-stem>-fixed.stl. If that name is taken, the app tries -fixed-2.stl, -fixed-3.stl, and so on. Names that differ only by letter case count as taken, so collisions on case-insensitive volumes are handled too. An existing file is never overwritten.
Very long names
If the destination filesystem cannot hold the full name (APFS allows 255 characters per name), whole characters are removed from the end of the original stem, together with any trailing spaces, dots, hyphens or underscores, until <stem>-fixed[-N].stl and <stem>-report[-N].json both fit. The repaired STL and its report share the same shortened stem; the -fixed or -report label, the number and the extension stay intact.
How a save is made safe
The verified repair is written to a private staging folder inside the destination folder, so staging and the final file are on the same filesystem.
It is published under a new name in a way that refuses to replace any existing entry.
The saved file is re-checked against the hash of the verified repair.
If any step fails, the file is not marked Saved, the staging folder is cleaned up, and no misleading final .stl is left. Existing files in the folder are not deleted.
A read-only or otherwise unwritable destination therefore fails cleanly: the row goes back to Repair ready with a "Save failed" message, and you can choose another folder or retry.
Batches
One failed save does not block the others. Each file in a batch succeeds or fails independently, and each row shows its own result.
After saving
A Reveal button on a saved row shows the file in Finder. Files with No repair needed never produce a copy.
Checked in the packaged app
Besides the automated tests, the save panel (per-file and batch), name collisions including case-insensitive ones, read-only destinations, report export and Reveal in Finder were exercised by hand in the packaged app on macOS 27 arm64. See Verification status.
